Dave Holmes has led a lonely, yet, somehow lucky life. He identifies strongly with media throw-outs. In fact, he retains an identity therein.
And, this is his tale. It's a slow read. We are not so sure that we appreciate the writer's method of laying out his life in this manner. It is creative, logical and makes complete sense. It's just, not as interesting or as funny as we thought that it would be.
Holmes is wise, thinks a lot and even philosophizes. We enjoyed this aspect of the book. However, it simply doesn't resonate for us.
Party of One is the plight of one gay man. Trying to find his way in this world. Trying to adjust with each of life's losses.
I was going to have to keep trying
If I don't know what's going on in the world of pop culture, who am I?
It was so stupid I had to do it.
Someday I'm going to have to accept the face that I'm old, but it doesn't have to be today.
When you're young, you think you're always going to know every song in the Top 40.
