Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits houses a plethora of brands (29 of them to date), to include the Skyfall Vineyard and Villa Pozzi. Others include Yellow Tail, Kunde and Carr. A significant part of our affinity for the Deutsch Family brand is that there are plenty of affordable wines that can be culled from the colorful umbrella.
Skyfall Vineyard was named for the huge automobile-sized boulders, which are visually enmeshed amongst the vines. These appear to have fallen from the sky. It is just such natural occurrences that have created an excellent location for growing grapes.
(1) 2014 Chardonnay Columbia Valley
This lovely Summer wine has a nose which, is subtle, yet exuberantly fruity, grapes in particular. Varietal composition includes 93% Chardonnay, 3% Rousanne, 2% Semillion and 2% Viognier. The 2014 Chardonnay takes a slow two weeks for fermentation at about fifty-five degrees Fahrenheit. It's light on the palate. Cheerful, even.
Founded in 2006, the Pozzi's have been creating and producing wines for four generations. They are headquartered in Sicily, Italy, where all fruit ingredients are harvested by hands and selecting them occurs at night or in the early a.m. This is done so that there is no bitterness or off flavoring in the final products.
(1) Cabernet Sauvignon
The nose is grape with a hint of another fruit. We cannot discern this other fruit. However, the taste is delightful when properly aired. It's simple and non-convoluted. This is yet another reason why we have developed a brand affinity.
