When we first considered reviewing this book, we must have been in a hurry, as we do not normally read poetry. Not on purpose. We do not wish to be unkind and certainly not to this author. It's simply not our genre.
We were attracted to this book as the topic of mental health and the treatment of the mentally ill interests us. It seems almost unfathomable that this "healthcare stint" lasted for fifteen-years. But, then again, it's well-documented that even medicating a bipolar can take twenty-years to get right!
What is incredible is that Ann Henry has been able to express herself through poetry. This is one of the things that make this book worth reading. Expressing oneself is so critical to those wanting help, as is expressed by Henry herself.
Henry's pain is well-expressed and it's easy to empathize.
