Ahhh. Finally! Finally, someone has presented graffiti for the art form that it is. And, they've done it from the perspective of art history. This is the first installment of a four-part series.
Granted, the history of the mural goes back farther than we knew. Some consider caveman scribbles to be the archetypal mural and perhaps, it was. Whether you agree or not, this is an art form.
Oh, sure. It's easy to acknowledge this fact when the talent, with its subtle shading and neatly organized wavy lines are obvious. What about the Jackson Pollock type shapes and forms? Or, Matisse's silhouettes?
Just as surely as the mural has evolved, so has art itself. They are both cyclical and linear. Then, before we know it, muralists are traveling the world for germane contests and festivities without the benefit of a permanent home.
Pomajambo gives muralist's a voice and adds to their legitimacy as artist's. We would like to see someone do this for rap music. Give it legitimacy as an art form, that is.
