HydraDock is a Kickstarter project, so named because of the many-headed mythological serpent, as it expands the single-USB-C port into an array of 11 helpful and useful ports. These include the following;
1) 3.5mm stereo headphone port
1) Gigabit Ethernet port
1) SDXC card slot
1) Mini DisplayPort (up to 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, w/HDCP)
1) HDMI (up to 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, w/HDCP)
4) USB 3.0 ports
2) USB-C ports (data only, no video)
Sweet. Right? Well, yeah. Thanks to KickShark, you no longer need to pause when considering the purchase of the new Apple MacBook, considering that it is equipped with a single USB-C port. Yeah. One.
The purpose of the HydraDock is functionality and the fact that you have that when you the HydraDock. It's powered by the MacBook's AC power supply (or, the power supply for any other USB-C computer), which is plugged into one end. The USB-C cable is plugged into the other end, then, into your MacBook.
The HydraDock is now available for purchase on Kickstarter (the URL is below). It retails for $149.00. However, the Kickstarter Early Bird price is $129.00. Sweet.
Oh and by the way, as of today, this campaign has 24 days to go and has reached their initial financial goal of $35,000.00. Hence, they're already successful. But, that doesn't mean that you can't back the project.
